CENTER FOR ORGANIC TOMATO GROWERS

LOCATION New York, NY

CLIENT Proposal

A proposal for an exhibition space and learning center for public interaction with tomato plants in New York. Within commercial market and agricultural production systems, there are relationships between quality and value of product. Quality of product is determined through production, systems, visual appeal, and taste.

In order to see the tomato within its own unique existence outside the realm of the market, this program integrates production and display conditions of the plants to localize the range of quality types for the public to interact with and understand commodity ‘value’ systems.

The center for organic tomato growers includes growth areas for interior and exterior public tomato collections, and research collections. Also included in the program are research rooms, culinary classrooms, and a souvenir shop.
